The 132 kV Network Between Wellington and Dubbo

The 132 kV electricity network between Wellington and Dubbo is an important part of the regional network.

The Dubbo Distribution Project is being planned by EnergyCo, Essential Energy and Transgrid. AEMO’s 2026 Integrated System Plan identifies an option involving upgrades and expansion of the local 132 kV network around Dubbo and Wellington. (aemo.com.au)

The identified option would provide 700 MW of renewable energy export capacity through upgrades to the local network. The proposed works include energy hubs, substation upgrades and reconstruction of sections of the existing 132 kV network. (aemo.com.au)

The Dubbo Distribution Project is therefore an important part of the electricity network development associated with the Wellington-Dubbo area.

CWO REZ Development Around Wellington and Dubbo

The combination of renewable energy projects and the planned 132 kV network works represents significant development across the Wellington-Dubbo area.

The CWO REZ includes Wellington within its broader geographical area, while the Dubbo Distribution Project specifically involves planned network upgrades around Dubbo and Wellington. (energyco.nsw.gov.au)

As these projects progress, the Wellington-Dubbo area remains an important part of the ongoing development of the Central-West Orana Renewable Energy Zone.
