Community concern continues to grow over Venn Energy’s proposed Boree Solar Project, with residents from Geurie, Wongarbon and surrounding districts raising questions about the potential impacts on agriculture, rural amenity, biodiversity, bushfire risk, traffic, flooding and community wellbeing. Local residents have formed community groups, lodged submissions, attended consultation sessions and engaged with government agencies in an effort to ensure that the concerns of affected landholders and the broader community are properly considered during the planning and assessment process. As the project progresses through the State Significant Development approval pathway, many residents are calling for the project to be halted, arguing that the scale, location and cumulative impacts of the development are incompatible with the long-term interests of the local community and surrounding agricultural landscape.
